Arizona Cardinals introduce NFL draft picks Will Johnson, Cody Simon
The Arizona Cardinals picked Will Johnson and Cody Simon in the 2025 NFL Draft, and formally introduced the rookies to the media on May 8, 2025.
The Arizona Cardinals were in the mix for the NFC West title in 2024 after a 6-4 start to the season but ultimately finished the season 8-9 and missed out on the postseason.
Year 2 under head coach Jonathan Gannon featured marked improvement on each side of the ball but even more so on defense. Arizona’s defense went from 31st in the league in points allowed to 15th. The offense took another step behind quarterback Kyler Murray‘s first healthy season since 2020.
The Cardinals’ defense could take another step this year after investment at every level in the draft as well as free agent addition Josh Sweat, the top edge rusher on the market this offseason.
Will the Cardinals take another step towards contention in a competitive NFC West? Here’s what to know about their schedule for 2025.

Record prediction: 9-8
The NFC West could be tougher in 2025 than a season ago. San Francisco will likely be healthier and Los Angeles brought in Davante Adams to upgrade the wide receiver room. Seattle’s turned over multiple key positions but could improve in year two under coach Mike Macdonald.
Arizona faces teams from the AFC South and NFC South in addition to its NFC West slate of games. That works in their favor as those two divisions combined for just two 10-win teams in 2024 (Houston and Tampa Bay). They’ll also face the Cowboys, Bengals and Packers.
Road matchups against the Bengals, Buccaneers and Texans could be tough but the path is there for the team to finish above .500 for just the second time in the last decade.
We reckon an even 3-3 split in divisional games will be similarly balanced by their non-division slate. A key win at home against the Falcons or Packers makes the difference for the team to get to 9-8.
