Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni offered clear and unwavering support for kicker Jake Elliott after a difficult first half that tested the veteran’s confidence.
Elliott’s frustration followed a rare off-stretch against the Washington Commanders. He was officially 0-for-2 on field goal attempts in the first half. But in reality missed three kicks, including a second attempt after a penalty gave Philadelphia another chance.

“I have the utmost confidence in Jake,” Sirianni said. “Like any team, you have ups and downs. I have the utmost confidence in him that he’ll respond and rebound from this because he’s mentally tough and a great kicker. We have utmost faith in Jake moving forward.” Sirianni’s comments reflected organizational trust rather than concern, emphasizing belief over reaction.

After the game, Elliott acknowledged the disappointment, making it clear the misses stayed with him regardless of the final result. “It’s just frustrating. I hit the ball well pre-game, and feel like I had a good plan, and then I don’t go through in the game… I’ve gotta figure some stuff out,” Elliott said, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Wins do not erase personal standards, and Elliott did not hide that the mistakes bothered him.

From the Philadelphia Eagles’ perspective, the response from Sirianni was decisive. There is no shift in trust and no hesitation about Elliott’s role. Thankfully, the Eagles won with a margin of 11 points.
Now, the expectation from Jake Elliott is simple. Learn from it and deliver when the next opportunity comes. And no doubt Elliott would not make it as the placekicker has completed 17 out of 24 field goals he attempted in the 2025 NFL season. Let’s see how the 30-year-old performs against the Buffalo Bills.
