Taysom Hill is an asset the New Orleans Saints possess that has often been imitated, but never successfully truly replicated. Between his ability to make plays as a rusher, receiver, and passer, plus an aptitude for special teams and a willingness to block, he’s earned a lot of respect over the years.

While he has never shown the ability to be a bona fide, pure quarterback, he is a Swiss army knife player of his own who has come in clutch for New Orleans in situations in which only he could really be called upon. Hill continued to add to his list of accolades on Sunday, becoming the only player with over 1,000 yards passing, rushing, and receiving in the Super Bowl era.

That’s quite the stat. The veteran, who has taken the field professionally for nine season, now totals a career 2,388 passing yards, 2,545 rushing yards, and 1,002 career receiving yards. While Hill has been playing for quite a while since he was originally brought in by the Saints in 2017 off waivers.

Hill wasn’t picked in the 2017 NFL draft, spending a short stint in Green Bay before he was ultimately released and discovered to be the gem he is by legendary coach Sean Payton. While wins aren’t a real quarterback or player stat, it’s also worth noting that Hill holds a 7-2 overall record as a starter. And it’s everything he’s managed to do for the Saints at other positions that has endeared him to fans. Hill finished out Sunday’s game with four receptions for 36 yards, also rushing for 42 yards on 12 carries. He also had one singular passing attempt for a 38-yard touchdown in the 29-6 victory. That’s nothing to scoff at.

It will be interesting to see how Hill is further utilized as the Saints move through the tail end of the season — and what happens after with his contract set to void following the conclusion of the regular season will also be something to watch.
