Postseason contenders are on a collision course to cap off Week 16. Both the 49ers and Colts are very much alive in the NFC and AFC, respectively. However, both sides need to continue stacking wins in order to secure their spot in the postseason.
In this pivotal intra-conference showdown, which lesser-known players will step up in primetime? Here are two Monday night football bargain plays worth consideration in all DFS contests.

WR Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts ($5,600)
Uncertainty abounds for Indianapolis with new (er, old) quarterback Philip Rivers ($8,800) under center. The 44-year-old wasn’t great during his season debut last week vs. the Seahawks. Against Seattle, he threw for just 120 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception. Expecting a semi-retired QB to put up massive numbers is wishful thinking. However, with extra rest and a game at home, it’s fair to think Rivers will perform better on Monday.
On Sunday, Josh Downs managed to snag three catches for 13 yards and a touchdown (10.3 FPTS). It’s not as if his fellow wideouts did much, either. The slot specialist could become a safety blanket for the immobile Rivers. San Francisco has allowed the seventh-most receptions to opposing wide receivers this season. Inside the offense-friendly, indoor Lucas Oil Stadium, the 24-year-old should play a larger role. If the Colts struggle to throw the ball deep, Downs could thrive over the middle of the field.
WR Kendrick Bourne, San Francisco 49ers ($4,400)
Ricky Pearsall (knee/ankle) didn’t suit up for Friday’s practice. Right now, the oft-injured wide receiver is trending towards a scratch on Monday. Should that occur, there wouldn’t be much depth on the outside for San Francisco. Jauan Jennings ($12,000) should continue to command targets from quarterback Brock Purdy ($15,600). After that, Kendrick Bourne is poised for a larger role. The veteran has snagged 33 catches for 499 yards and a touchdown.
Much of Bourne’s production this season has come with one, or both, of San Francisco’s wideouts inactive. It helps that Indianapolis’ secondary is injured and ineffective. The Colts have surrendered the third-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. To make matters worse, they’re without midseason acquisition Sauce Gardner (calf). Between Jennings and George Kittle ($12,600), the 49ers aren’t lacking quality pass catchers. Still, Bourne’s low cost makes him a worthwhile end of lineup selection for fantasy managers.
