Oregon Ducks safety Kingston Lopa is entering the transfer portal, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He won’t be with Oregon during the remainder of their run in the College Football Playoff.
The redshirt freshman spent the last two seasons in Eugene after signing with the Ducks as a 4-star recruit from Grant High School in Sacramento, California. He’ll have three years of eligibility remaining.
He’s the latest in a line of defensive backs that are transferring from Oregon along with Sione Laulea, Jahlil Florence, Dakoda Fields and Solomon Davis.
Lopa was ranked the No. 193 player nationally, the No. 15 safety and the No. 16 prospect in California by On3.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pound defensive back appeared in 19 total games during his two seasons with the Ducks. He played in six games as a true freshman and his role grew in 2025, when he played in all 12 regular season games. Lopa recorded 13 total tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack in his career as a Duck.
Lopa played significant snaps for Oregon in last year’s Big Ten championship game defending Penn State tight end Tyler Warren. He was expected to take on a bigger role in 2025, but found himself playing behind defensive backs like Dillon Thieneman, Aaron Flowers and Jadon Canady.
The Sacramento native signed with Oregon as part of a defensive back haul that also featured Flowers, cornerback Ify Obidegwu, JUCO cornerback Sione Laulea and the aforementioned Fields.
