Bryce Young Had Todd Bowles For Lunch
December 22nd, 2025
Another week, another flop.
Boy, a quarterback’s best friend isn’t a running game. It’s a Todd Bowles defense.
Seemingly every week for way, way, way too long, a struggling or underperforming quarterback faces the Bucs and Bowles’ defense. Then the guys is typically cured by halftime.
Two weeks ago it was Tyler Shough. Last week it was Kirk “509” Cousins. Yesterday, it was the Stinking Panthers’ erratic, runaround midget quarterback Bryce Young.
Oh, joy!
It seems Young had Bowles for not just breakfast, but for a large champagne brunch. Not only did Young make big plays against man coverage, Young roasted Bowles’ coveted zone defense, documents Nick Shook of NFL.com.
Next Gen Stats Insight for Buccaneers-Panthers (via NFL Pro): Bryce Young was particularly effective when targeting the outside numbers on Sunday, connecting on 10 of 16 attempts (62.5%) for 116 yards and both of his touchdown passes. While he completed 17 of 21 attempts (81.0%) against zone coverage for 118 yards, his two touchdown passes came against man coverage.
It’s like this every week. And it will continue. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
Bowles should be getting a piece of the bonuses NFC South quarterbacks get as a result of him bringing these quarterbacks back to life.
