Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn gave injury updates on Jaylin Lane, who left Saturday night’s contest against the Philadelphia Eagles with an ankle injury.
The Commanders‘ rookie wide receiver and punt returner was ruled out for the second half of Washington’s Week 16 loss to the Eagles.

“It would be tough for this Thursday,” Quinn said. “We will see what it looks like, but it will be a tough matchup for this week.”
Lane took a helmet to his lower leg after fielding a punt in the first quarter, and was evaluated in the blue medical tent before going into the locker room at the half. He was listed as “questionable” to return before halftime, but minutes before the second-half kickoff, he was downgraded to out.
The former fourth-round pick in 2025 has recorded 16 receptions for 225 yards as a receiver and has returned two punts for touchdowns in his first season as a pro.
Washington has continued to deal with injuries to its receiving corps this season. It lost Noah Brown for consecutive games, and he returned to the injured reserve list after reaggravating his groin injury. Luke McCaffrey has been on IR since Week 10, and Terry McLaurin already missed half of Washington’s season with a quad injury.

It seems Lane will be unable to play on Thursday, leaving room for Treylon Burks and Chris Moore to see elevated reps and targets, alongside McLaurin and Deebo Samuel. It’s unclear who would replace Lane as Washington’s punt returner if he does not play.
