Former Georgia Bulldogs tight end John FitzPatrick suffered a torn right Achilles injury during the Green Bay Packers‘ loss to the Chicago Bears on Saturday. FitzPatrick was seen in a boot after the game and tests confirmed Fitzpatrick’s injury.

The timing is unfortunate for FitzPatrick, who is in the middle of the most productive season of his NFL career. He had appeared in all 15 Packers games this season and has 12 receptions on 15 targets for 72 yards and a touchdown. Fitzpatrick’s numbers are the best of his career across the board. The 6-foot-7, 260-pound tight end is also a key blocker for the Packers.

Green Bay is fighting to try to earn a playoff berth and now will have to do it without two of their top tight ends. Packers tight end Tucker Kraft is already out for the year. With FitzPatrick out, Green Bay could look to sign a tight end. The Packers will rely more on tight end Luke Musgrave. Tight end Josh Whyle is also recovering from a concussion.

FitzPatrick is out for the season, but will hope to be ready in time for the 2025 NFL season. FitzPatrick was originally a sixth-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in the 2022 NFL draft.
