It was a loss and the Cardinals might have suffered two more season-ending injuries.
On Sunday at State Farm Stadium, it was another tough game. Not only did the Arizona Cardinals lose their seventh consecutive game, falling 26-19 to the Atlanta Falcons, they suffered more injuries.
The defensive side of the ball took more hits. Already playing without Max Melton, Mack Wilson, Bilal Nichols and L.J. Collier, we can now add Josh Sweat, Walter Nolen and Garrett Williams to the list of injured players who might miss one or both of the final two games of the season.
Josh Sweat injury update
Sweat hurt his ankle when a played rolled up on him. He tried to return later in the game and couldn’t finish the game. Leading the team with 11 sacks, his status for the final two games of the season will be uncertain.
Garrett Williams injury update
Williams suffered an Achilles injury. It came with no contact, and it appears to be a tear, although it has not yet been confirmed. If so, he will miss the final two games of the season and will also miss a chunk of 2026. Already having missed five games with a knee injury, it has been an unlucky season for him.
Walter Nolen injury update
The rookie defensive lineman went down with a knee injury, was carted off the field and he looked devastated. After the game, head coach Jonathan Gannon said he wasn’t sure of the severity, but “he didn’t feel great when he was on the ground.”
It has been an unlucky rookie year for the Cardinals’ first-round pick. He started the season on PUP with a calf injury he suffered in training. He missed two games with a knee injury earlier and now appears to have something that will at least end this season for him.
Budda Baker, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson injury updates
Both left the game to be examined for a concussion, but both were cleared and returned to the game.
Hjalte Froholdt injury update
Froholdt missed 11 snaps after hurting his elbow. He returned, but we will see if he misses any practice time this week. When he was out, Jon Gaines took over, sliding over from left guard. Rookie Hayden Conner replaced Gaines at left guard.
Gannon will address reporters Monday afternoon.
