Former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker reacts to Kansas move

  • December 23, 2025

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Many fans can’t fathom the Kansas City Chiefs playing anywhere except GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Former Chiefs players are also coming to terms with the news.

The Chiefs organization broke the news Monday afternoon that the team plans to move across the state line to Kansas in 2031.

“It’s a lot of history here. It’s a sad day for not only for the organization but for the city. This is a city that has attached to this football team and this, Arrowhead being a staple. I think they’re gonna miss it,” Dezman Moses, former Chiefs linebacker, said.

Moses said Arrowhead holds a special place in his life and it’s a unique location for NFL fans.

“I love it. This is a fan-based stadium where you could come and fans understood the game. They know when to cheer. They know when to be quiet. If it’s third down they know it’s time to get loud. That’s different amongst a lot of other venues in the National Football League and in college,” Moses said.

Fans know that Arrowhead holds the record for loudest outdoor stadium. Moses played in the game where fans set the record in September 2014. He said that is what helps make Arrowhead so special.

“It’s outdoors. I’m from New Jersey and I always say football is supposed to be played outdoors. It’s supposed to have some grit, some snow, some rain. Arrowhead brought you all of those things. It brought the passion and the noise too,” Moses said.

He’s heard from friends who are Chiefs fans. All seem to echo what other fans in Missouri are also feeling about the move.

“They’re sad right now. Not only my friends, but real Chiefs Kingdom fans who may not be able to access the games, who may not be able to get there and see the Chiefs in person and I think that’s a little bit sad to see. There will still be some Chiefs Kingdom fans out there and they will be going hard,” Moses said.
