The New York Jets (3-12) have not played for anything other than their pride for quite some time now as they’re looking to finish the season on a positive note after being officially eliminated from the playoffs recently. With the injuries to quarterbacks Tyrod Taylor and Justin Fields, Brady Cook has to finish the season as the starter and his next test was against the New Orleans Saints (5-10).
The Jets lost to the Saints 29-6 in a game that was close for most of the contest until the third quarter when New Orleans began to pull away from New York thanks to their execution on both sides of the ball. Cook struggled once again as the starting quarterback as he couldn’t find a way to keep the offense flowing without making some mistakes along the way.

The Saints’ offense had no problem moving the ball as quarterback Tyler Shough and wide receiver Chris Olave connected for plenty of big plays over the course of the game. Not only did the Jets’ offense have trouble moving the ball, but the defense had trouble stopping anything that New Orleans wanted to do so here is the stock report for the Jets following Sunday’s loss to the Saints:

Davis did not run the ball particularly well in this one as he took three carries for eight yards, but his impact in this game was through the air with the way that he caught the football. Davis caught all four of his targets for 52 yards, including a 25-yard reception showing how much his speed can impact New York’s offense if he’s able to get open in the flat.

Stock Down: WR John Metchie III

Metchie is a long way from when he began his tenure with the Jets with at least 45 yards receiving in two of his first three games, but this performance had to be disappointing for fans to watch. Metchie caught one of his five targets for just four yards in a game where Cook threw the ball 35 times. The hope is that Metchie can be better to finish the season so that New York can know what they have in him heading into the offseason.
Stock Up: LB Jamien Sherwood

Sherwood has been having a solid season for the Jets despite the defense not being that effective for the second half of the campaign due to some of the trades made at the deadline. Sherwood piled up 11 tackles (seven solo), one sack, and two tackles for losses, showing how big of an impact he had over the course of this game despite the loss.

Stock Down: DE Jermaine Johnson

Johnson has been having a rough season for the Jets as he hasn’t able to get home to the quarterback that often and his impact in the run game just hasn’t been there. Johnson had two tackles (one solo) and one quarterback hit against the Saints, but that was the extent of his impact on this game in which the Saints were able to throw the ball all over the yard.
Stock Up: CB Qwan’tez Stiggers

Stiggers had quite the performance in this one as he not only totaled five tackles (three solo) and two pass deflections, he also came up with a huge fumble recovery in the first quarter. While the Jets weren’t able to capitalize on that momentum-changing play, Stiggers had arguably his best game of the season in yet another blowout for New York.

Stock Down: QB Brady Cook

Cook will most likely end the season as the starter with the injuries to Taylor and Fields and the hope is that he will show some kind of progress before the season ends. Cook finished this game having completed 22 of his passes for 188 yards and one interception and at this point, it seems like the Jets know that they need a quarterback of the future as soon as next season.
