Late December of lost seasons tends to spit out some fun Cincinnati Bengals trivia items that last for years.

Tuesday provided another. Brett Rypien, who spent time with the Bengals this year, just got claimed by the Minnesota Vikings on waivers after his release from the Indianapolis Colts.

Rypien went to the Colts after his Bengals tenure, a team that, yes, is possibly playoff-bound and employs former Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo in the same role.

Now, Rypien heads to the Vikings, a team battling through an injury to quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

Back in August, the Bengals signed Rypien to the practice squad, then promoted him to the active roster. He was the primary backup to Jake Browning after Joe Burrow’s injury, then was released in early October after the trade for Joe Flacco.
