Russell Wilson’s 2025 season with the New York Giants has been one of the most difficult of his NFL career. After signing a one-year, $10.5 million contract in March, Wilson began the season as the team’s starter but struggled with consistency and performance. He was replaced early in the year by rookie Jaxson Dart, eventually landing as a backup and even a healthy scratch in some games.

His on-field setbacks partly contributed to the Giants’ 2-12 record and subsequent elimination from postseason football, with the team now positioned on top of the 2026 draft order. Wilson’s statistical output lagged compared to his career norms, and his role diminished as New York sought to develop its younger quarterbacks and evaluate its future direction.

Amid a turbulent year on the field, Wilson has continued to enjoy the unwavering support of his wife, singer and entrepreneur Ciara, and their family. The couple, married since 2016 and parents to four children, have maintained a strong partnership throughout the highs and lows of Wilson’s career.

The Wilsons have long channeled their influence into philanthropy through the “Why Not You Foundation,” which Russell founded in 2014.

On Tuesday, the couple made another applaudable gesture by announcing a major initiative. Through the foundation, they donated $500,000 to the Atlanta Community Food Bank and the Southwest ATL Cares program to combat food insecurity across the city.

Shortly after the news broke, Wilson took to X to express his excitement about the contribution, writing: “So proud! We are doing it baby! ATL!!!”

The announcement, made alongside Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, aims to expand food access and strengthen emergency response efforts for families in need across metro Atlanta and North Georgia during the winter months.

While the couple continues to make huge moves, Wilson’s long-term future in the NFL remains uncertain as the Giants head into an offseason filled with major organizational decisions. New York will conclude the 2025 season with a visit to the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday before its season finale at home against the Dallas Cowboys.
