TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – In a social media post Tuesday night, Florida State University’s first-string quarterback Tommy Castellanos announced his intent to declare for the 2026 NFL Draft.
The senior quarterback from Waycross, Ga., wrote on his X profile Tuesday night, “Being a Seminole has been an absolute dream come true.” “I’m proud to graduate from this incredible university, and I will carry the Garnet and Gold with me wherever I go.”
Castellanos closed out his lone season at FSU with 15 combined touchdowns and more than 2,700 yards, according to FSU’s official football statistics.
He began his career with the UCF Knights in 2022, and then moved to Boston College the next season. Castellanos transferred from Boston College to FSU for the 2025 season.
“To Boston College, thank you for changing my life. Being a part of such an amazing institution has been one of the greatest honors I could ever experience,” Castellanos said in his social media post Tuesday night.
The news of his intent to declare comes on the heels of backup quarterback Brock Glenn entering the transfer portal hours earlier. In an X post, Glenn said, “This community is like no other. I leave with memories, relationships, and learnings to last a lifetime. And that ACC championship in 2023 was pretty special, too.”
Glenn, who quickly rose through the ranks following a tragic season and a career-ending injury to star quarterback Jordan Travis, was thrust into the spotlight as FSU played Louisville for the 2023 ACC Championship.
FSU’s quarterback room doesn’t have a lot of depth as of late December. With Castellanos not eligible for another season and Glenn entering the transfer portal, you have to look down the depth chart. Backup quarterback Jaylen King entered the transfer portal in mid-December, which leaves sophomore Michael Grant, freshman Gavin Markey and freshman Kevin Sperry. All three combined for 208 yards on 18 attempts.
