Most wins in more than a century of fielding a college football team.

Program-record 15-game winning streak that spanned the final five games of the 2024 season and the opening 10 of this past 2025 campaign.

Tennessee Tech has discovered something special with its football program as veteran head coach Bobby Wilder has rediscovered his building/rebuilding touch as a collegiate head coach.

Thus, Wilder is seeking to continue to guide the Golden Eagles forward in this all-new era of college football — even at the Football Championship Subdivision level.

Tennessee Tech is making a massive change atop its offense, multiple sources tell FootballScoop.

Brian Scott, a longtime ‘Air Raid’ disciple who’s worked with Wilder for nearly three decades, is out as Tennessee Tech offensive coordinator, sources confirm to FootballScoop.

Targeted as Scott’s replacement? University of Massachusetts assistant Drew Belcher.

The goal, sources familiar with Wilder’s vision for the Golden Eagles, is to have a more ground-oriented offensive attack that’s “better able to help win games in December.”

Tech’s record-setting, 11-win season this year was perhaps halted prematurely with an NCAA Football Championship Subdivision Playoffs loss to North Dakota.

The Golden Eagles overall posted impressive rushing numbers for the season in 2025 but were stymied late-year when competition ramped up and possessing the football became a greater priority. They tallied just a combined 100 yards in their final eight quarters of the season against UT-Martin and North Dakota in the postseason; they were stuffed for just 24 yards on 24 official carries in the season-ending loss.

Belcher, touted for his energetic approach and with FCS Playoffs coaching experience from his time on the New Hampshire staff prior to his addition to the UMass, also owns brief NFL playing experience. Following his standout-career at the University of Maine, he logged a season with the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals franchise as well as time with the Washington Commanders.

Following his playing career, Belcher then transitioned into coaching at New Hampshire. Despite being just five years into his coaching career, Belcher has worked with the offensive line, running backs and quarterback units. He helped tutor former star quarterback Max Brosmer, who closed his career at the University of Minnesota and now is in the NFL.

The founding father of Old Dominion’s football program, Wilder has entirely reinvigorated Tennessee Tech football. The Golden Eagles won just 19 games total in the five seasons prior to Wilder’s arrival on the Cumberland Plateau; they have won 18 games the past two seasons.

The Golden Eagles are slated to open their 2026 season at home in Week Zero against Monmouth on Aug. 29.Â
