The Falcons’ back-to-back wins have not shut the door on potential changes that could be coming at season’s end.
NFL insider James Palmer reported yesterday that there is a growing belief around the league that the Falcons will not be standing pat with their current head coach and general manager, noting that everything inside the building is being evaluated. Adding even more context to the situation, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reports that Arthur Blank has brought in an outside firm, Sportsology, to perform a “health check” on the organization.
“Owner Arthur Blank’s group has brought the consulting firm Sportology, with whom they’ve partnered with for a while, in to work with them on the Falcons, as well as the MLS’ Atlanta United and the new NWSL expansion team he was awarded (they’ve worked with Blank on building the NWSL club for a little while),” Breer writes. “For the Falcons’ specifically, it’s an overall health check on the team’s operations. And it’s not been a secret within the walls of the football facility that the evaluation is ongoing.”
Breer also agreed with Palmer in that there is “plenty of buzz” regarding potential changes in Atlanta.
“Time will tell what this means for GM Terry Fontenot and coach Raheem Morris, but there’s plenty of buzz that some level of change is coming, with the team at 6–9, assured of its eighth consecutive season under .500 and home for the playoffs,” he continued.
Despite a few encouraging storylines — Bijan Robinson establishing himself as arguably the top running back in football and a revamped pass rush, to name a couple — it’s hard to feel encouraged by the Falcons’ outlook overall. They have already clinched an eighth straight losing season, don’t appear any closer to finding their answer at quarterback, and do not own a first-round pick in 2026.
Atlanta still owes Kirk Cousins quite a bit of money next year, and they have several key offensive pieces who will be looking for significant raises very soon in Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and Bijan Robinson. These are massive decisions that are going to impact the organization for years to come.
Does Arthur Blank really believe the right guys are in the building to make those? I don’t know how he could.
