One month after choosing the Kansas City Chiefs over the Denver Broncos, running back Dameon Pierce has no hope of reaching the NFL playoffs this season.
Pierce (5-10, 215 pounds) was heavily pursued by the Broncos after he was cut by the Houston Texans in late November, but he opted to join the Chiefs instead. He was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster last weekend, but he was a healthy scratch for the game and has yet to play for Kansas City.

The Chiefs are already eliminated from playoff contention, so they have nothing to play for when they host the Broncos on Christmas Day. Denver, on the other hand, could clinch the AFC West and the No. 1 seed in the conference as early as this weekend (if they get some help from other teams).
After failing to land Pierce, the Broncos later signed running back Cody Schrader. Denver now has four running backs on the active roster: RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin, Tyler Badie and Schrader.
