Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence discusses his team’s sixth straight win

Trevor Lawrence threw three touchdown passes and ran for one score in the Jaguars’ 34-20 win over the Denver Broncos.

It’s safe to say that Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence isn’t tired of fielding the question.

Lawrence was once again asked if he’d played his best game of the season in the 34-20 victory on the road against the Denver Broncos.

“I hope I keep getting that question,” he quipped. “That means I keep playing well every week.”

Lawrence completed 23 of 36 passes for 279 yards with three passing touchdowns in the win against the Denver Broncos. He added 20 yards on the ground and a rushing score. It’s more of the same for Lawrence and the Jaguars as they have reeled off wins in seven of their last eight games.

He’s up to 3,489 passing yards with 26 touchdowns for the season. He has 11 interceptions, a career-low if it stands through the final two regular season games. Lawrence has also used his legs more effectively this season, recording 322 rushing yards so far for a career-best seven touchdowns.

“When plays break down, because defenses are good, whether it’s pass rush or just coverage, you got be able to extend some plays,” Lawrence said. “Make scramble plays, throwing the ball or with my legs.”

Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence respects what Phillip Rivers has done in his return

Lawrence is in his fifth season in the NFL. He can’t even imagine playing for nearly 20 years, let alone playing after being retired for four years. That’s exactly what Indianapolis quarterback Phillip Rivers is doing.

“I have a ton of respect for Philip. A guy that obviously is an all-time great quarterback in this league,” Lawrence said. “He’s coming back and playing, it’s been impressive to see what he’s done the last few weeks.”

Rivers played 17 seasons in the league before retiring, now he’s back for his 18th season and is trying to keep the Colts’ playoff chances alive. If the Houston Texans win their game on Saturday, the Colts will be eliminated from postseason contention.

The Colts are planning to play him regardless of the result of Saturday’s game, which will give him at least one more game to add to his Hall of Fame resume. So far he’s completed 41 of 62 passes for 397 yards and three touchdowns in two games.

“At that age, people probably thought a certain thing about how he’s going to play and he’s been playing really, really well, so it’s been cool to watch,” Lawrence said.

The Jaguars will travel to face the Indianapolis Colts this weekend in a game that can secure the AFC South title for them.
