Here is what two insiders are hearing about the Jaguars from those around the NFL.
As the Jacksonville Jaguars continue to stack wins, what are those around the NFL saying about this team?
That is the question ESPN NFL insiders Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler recently answered — specifically, are teams buying the run that the Jaguars are on?
The answers seem to be mixed.
As Graziano noted, he had multiple people text him after the Jaguars’ win in Denver that Liam Coen should be Coach of the Year. Graziano also noted Anthony Campanile’s role in the team’s success and how important Jakobi Meyers has been as well.
However, some aren’t completely bought in either.
“I think there is some skepticism — as there would be with any contender new on the scene — about how the Jaguars will perform in playoff games,” Graziano wrote. “But Lawrence does have a playoff win on his résumé, and the versatility of the Jaguars’ offense combined with how tough they are up front on defense definitely has the attention of other teams.”
Entering the final weeks of the regular season, the Jaguars’ offense is rolling right now. In five of the Jaguars’ last eight games, they have eclipsed the 30-point mark.
As Graziano noted, while early on in the year the run game helped shoulder the offensive workload, over the last month-plus, it has been Trevor Lawrence and the passing game that has led the way for this unit as he’s found more comfort within Coen’s offense.
Defensively, the Jaguars continue to generate takeaways at a very high rate.
Put those two things together, plus a team that plays hard for 60 minutes, and the Jaguars are one of the hottest teams in the NFL.
The sample size is large enough at this stage of the season. There shouldn’t be any more skepticism around the Jaguars.
