As Christmas Day arrives, the Detroit Lions (8-7) hope they can deliver themselves the perfect present by downing NFC North rival Minnesota (7-8) with the nation’s eyes upon them.

In a game that will stream exclusively on Netflix, the Lions put their playoff hopes on the line against the Vikings. While there’s still a pathway into the playoffs for Detroit, it requires the Lions winning their final two regular-season games and seeing the Green Bay Packers lose their final two games.

For Detroit, it has to start with a yuletide victory against a Minnesota squad that it lost to on Nov. 3, 27-24. The Lions won’t see Minnesota’s starting quarterback in this go-around, though.

The Vikings announced that starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy is out with a hairline fracture in his throwing hand, meaning undrafted rookie Max Brosmer is in line for his second career start.

As the Lions look for revenge in the season’s penultimate week, here’s a look at the latest odds, including the spread, over-under and a prediction.

Lions-Vikings betting odds

Spread: Lions -7.5

Over-Under: 43

Moneyline: Lions -375 / Vikings +300

Prediction

Lions 27, Vikings 17: It’s do-or-die time for the Lions. With their season hanging in the balance, Detroit delivers on the road against Minnesota. The Lions’ defense has been the NFL’s worst over the past five weeks, but getting to see Brosmer on the opposite end of the equation should be a welcome sight for a defense that is desperate to sort things out in the regular season’s final two weeks.
