Numerous NFL execs recently weighed in on the 2025 Coach of the Year award and the Jaguars’ Liam Coen.
NFL execs recently weighed in on who they believe should be the NFL’s Coach of the Year, and among those mentioned was the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Liam Coen.
The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero polled 30 execs, asking them to vote on who they believe should win each major end-of-season award, such as MVP, Coach of the Year, and others.
When it came to Coach of the Year, New England’s Mike Vrabel was the clear-cut winner if it were up to the NFL execs. He received 13 votes.
Chicago’s Ben Johnson was second with six votes, while Coen was third with four votes.
Under Coen, the Jaguars have made one of the biggest turnarounds in football, going from four wins a season ago to 11 wins with still two games left in the regular season.
Jacksonville has clinched a playoff spot, but they also still find themselves in the mix for the AFC’s No. 1 seed.
Trevor Lawrence is playing some of the best football of his career over the last month under Coen. The offense has scored 30-plus points in five of their last eight games as well.
Not to be overlooked either is the staff that Coen has assembled around him, which includes offensive coordinator Grant Udinski and defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile, who has turned the Jaguars into a takeaway-heavy defense.
However, perhaps what stands out the most about this Coen-led Jaguars team is their resiliency.
After blowing a 19-point fourth-quarter lead to Houston, the Jaguars were 5-4, and it felt like a fork in the road moment for this team. But since then, Jacksonville has won six games in a row, which tells us a lot about the makeup of this team under Coen’s leadership.
