In a recent poll, NFL execs highlighted two Colts players as candidates for end-of-season awards.
Two Indianapolis Colts players were mentioned as candidates for some end-of-season awards by NFL executives.
The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero polled 30 execs, asking them to vote on who they believe should win each major end-of-season award, such as MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, Offensive Rookie of the Year, and others.
In the Offensive Player of the Year category, Colts‘ running back Jonathan Taylor received one vote.
Seattle’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba received the most votes. Matthew Stafford, Bijan Robinson, James Cook, Sam Darnold, and Puka Nacua were the others who earned votes.
With two games to go in the regular season, Taylor ranks second among all running backs in rushing yards with 1,489.
Taylor is also fifth in average yards per carry and first in rushing touchdowns. He is third in rushes of 10-plus yards as well.
In the Offensive Rookie of the Year category, tight end Tyler Warren received three votes, which was the second-most among players. The NFL execs, however, believe that Carolina wide receiver Tetairao McMillan should win the award.
Entering Week 17, Warren has the fourth-most receiving yards in football among tight ends. His 68 receptions are the eighth-most, and he is second in total yards after the catch, according to PFF.
Along with his passing game production, Warren’s do-it-all presence opens up the playbook for Shane Steichen. His impact goes well beyond the stat sheet.
Others who received votes for Offensive Player of the Year included Emeka Egbuka, TreVeyon Henderson, Tyler Shough, Will Campbell, and several others.
