As the 2025 season winds down, the New York Giants’ search for a new head coach will kick into high gear soon.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan spoke to several executives and assistant coaches from around the league, and one of them suggested that the presence of rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart makes the Giants a top landing spot for prospective head coaches.

“[Dart] makes the coaching job attractive,” a former NFL head coach told Raanan.

Dart has shown flashes of superstar potential throughout his up-and-down rookie season. The 2025 No. 25 pick has thrown for 1,835 yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptions while also adding a team-high seven rushing touchdowns. Raanan pointed out that he’s 18th in total QBR, one spot ahead of Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts.

The executives who spoke to Raanan described Dart as a “talented young quarterback,” but they also “concede he needs help” and “don’t view him as a star yet.” The 22-year-old needs to improve his processing and effectiveness from the pocket.

“Gotten away with scrambling all his life,” another coach said of Dart.

At 2-13, the Giants are in the running for the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL draft, which would make their head coach opening even more attractive. New York will face the 2-13 Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, so that game will play a large role in determining the draft position for both teams.
