The New York Jets were blown out in Week 16, losing 26-9 to the surging New Orleans Saints. It was another forgettable performance as the Jets dropped to a hapless 3-12 in 2025. They moved up to No. 4 overall in the 2026 NFL draft real-time order.

It was par for the course for the Jets. Saints rookie quarterback Tyler Shough and Kellen Moore’s offense was dominant versus a non-existent defense.

With that, Jets Wire has identified three things we learned about the Jets during Sunday’s lopsided defeat.

Defensive coordinator change… changes nothing

Head coach Aaron Glenn fired defensive coordinator Steve Wilks and replaced him with the interim Chris Harris prior to Sunday’s game versus the Saints. Predictably, it changed nothing. The Jets simply don’t have enough (healthy) talent on defense to compete in the NFL right now. The Saints scored 29 points and racked up 412 yards of offense.

Brady Cook is growing and struggling

It was a rough afternoon for Jets rookie quarterback Brady Cook. The former Missouri standout completed 22-of-35 passing attempts for 188 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. Cook was also sacked on an astounding eight occasions and lost a fumble.

Defensive backfield issues

The Jets are incredibly banged up in the defensive backfield at both cornerback and safety. It was evident on Sunday as Saints superstar wide receiver Chris Olave produced 10 receptions for 148 yards and two touchdowns. The Jets don’t have a cornerback capable of keeping up.
