If the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could ask Santa for only one present this Christmas, they might have to think outside the box. Of course, there are a lot of things the Bucs could use as they head into the final two games of the season, but there is one thing that might help the Buccaneers more than anything else.

Baker Mayfield needs his mojo back.

Yes, that’s a weird thing to request of Santa Claus, but it’s what Tampa Bay needs more than anything else. The Buccaneers are desperately in need of wins, and with everyone now healthy, there’s nothing else that’s coming to rescue Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers need their quarterback to play better.

It’s no secret Mayfield has been struggling lately. Over the last nine games, he’s 2-7 and has the worst passer rating in the league among full-time starters during that span. He’s not scoring enough, and he’s turning the ball over too often, and in the most crucial spots. Take last week, for example, when he threw a pick while Tampa Bay was in field goal range, costing the Buccaneers a win and a potential playoff spot.

If the Buccaneers are going to win their last two games and win the division, it is going to have to start with Mayfield. If Mayfield gets his swag back and can deliver for Tampa Bay against the Dolphins and Panthers, he can save the season and potentially save his job for future seasons. If not, the Buccaneers are going to go into the offseason with a lot of question marks, including the question of whether or not Mayfield should continue as their quarterback.

That is why, for the sake of Tampa Bay and the sake of Mayfield’s future, the Buccaneers should have one thing at the top of their wishlist from Santa Claus. Baker Mayfield needs his mojo back, and maybe a little extra Christmas magic to go with it.
