Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London made his return in Week 16 after missing the last four games due to a knee injury. London’s performance in Sunday’s win over the Arizona Cardinals was not up to his usual standard. He caught just three of eight targets for 27 receiving yards.

While it’s fair to expect a certain amount of rust when a player returns from an extended absence, London didn’t look 100 percent healthy. Head coach Raheem Morris was asked about London’s status during his Wednesday press conference.

“Obviously, we’ll have some kind of modification on him,” Morris said of London. “Got him back out there last week. Looked a little rusty at times but, you know, it’s Drake. He’s productive — went out there and got two big conversions for us on third down. I look forward to him being even better this week.”

Morris said that quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is in “great spirits” now that he’s back with the team going through rehabilitation.

“His whole process has started as far as what he’s going to do,” Morris said of Penix’s recovery timeline. “His calendar is laid out.”

The Falcons head coach also gave an update on cornerback Mike Hughes, who sat out last week with an ankle injury. Morris said Hughes would likely be out again on Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams.
