Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse football defensive back Greg Delaine will enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal ahead of his fifth season of college football.

He is the 21st member of the SU football roster who has said they will explore the idea of playing football elsewhere next season. Delaine shared his plans on Instagram on Wednesday.

Delaine has played four seasons for Syracuse, starting one game during his second season under Dino Babers. He has one year of college eligibility remaining.

Listed at 6-foot and 180 pounds, Delaine played 120 snaps on defense last season, primarily as an outside cornerback. He also played 60 snaps on special teams and finished with seven tackles and one pass defended.

His Pro Football Focus grade ranked 45th of the 53 players who played defensive snaps for the Orange last year.

Syracuse’s starting cornerbacks next season appear locked in. Chris Peal and Demetres Samuel Jr. led the team in snaps played on defense last year and both are expected to return.

Football players can not officially enter their names into the NCAA’s transfer portal until Jan. 2 but can share their plans at any time.

Delaine is the 21st player from the SU roster to express plans to transfer next year and the fifth defensive back.

The other defensive backs include Kaylib Singleton, Ibn McDaniels, Jalil Martin and Ta’Ron Haile.

Running back Yasin Willis is the only expected departure who finished last season with an established role as a starter, although a pair of highly-ranked recruits have left before having a chance to establish themselves.

Willis is ranked by On3.com as the biggest loss. The website ranks him No. 11 among the running backs currently expected to enter the portal and the No. 114 player overall.
