No, Lamar Jackson is not going to be a member of the New York Jets in 2026. Even with Gang Green having the assets to acquire the two-time NFL MVP, it’s just not a realistic scenario.
So, why would a report from a columnist in Baltimore potentially affect the Jets’ 2026 NFL draft plans?
The Baltimore Sun’s Mike Preson opened that door on Wednesday afternoon. He suggested the quarterback’s lack of maturity and his inability to stay healthy could force the Ravens to move on—while adding draft capital in the process.
Jets affected by Ravens trade rumors
Preston name-dropped two teams in any potential trade for the former two-time NFL MVP. Neither are the Jets, but both could significantly impact how the team views its future draft capital.
“The Ravens should look at possible trades, which could net them two or three first-round picks,” Preston wrote. “Jackson would love to play in Miami, where quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is no longer the starter, or possibly Las Vegas, where (Tom) Brady, a partial owner of the Raiders, has shown a fondness for him. Baltimore should also draft a young quarterback in the early rounds.”
The Ravens and quarterback Lamar Jackson are at a crossroads, columnist Mike Preston writes. Is a trade possible?
Jackson is expected to make $74.5 million in 2026 and 2027, which would make him the highest-paid signal-caller in the league. But here is a suggestion for… pic.twitter.com/IrsHSyAdhH

The Raiders and the Dolphins are the two teams most closely linked to Lamar Jackson.
For Jets fans, the hope is straightforward …
A Jackson trade to Las Vegas takes the Raiders out of the top overall pick conversation. That would leave the Jets alone in the race to find their quarterback of the future—whether it happens through trade or the draft.
A trade to the Dolphins does nothing for New York, aside from the fact that Miami would give up its entire draft future without addressing its defensive or offensive line issues.
In that way, the Jets would still be able to come away in a better light.
There’s no guarantee the Ravens will trade Jackson, but the reports of discontent in Baltimore cannot be ignored. And if the team truly looks to start over from the MVP, the Raiders would be the perfect fit for him.
At least that’s how the quarterback-starved New York Jets would argue the matter.
