While not mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, the Lions need some major help to make it to the postseason after dropping back-to-back games to the Los Angeles Rams and the Pittsburgh Steelers. They’ll need to win today’s contest, as well as their regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears next week and for the Green Bay Packers to lose their remaining two games.
The Vikings have already been eliminated from playoff contention. Starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy will miss today’s game due to a hairline fracture in his hand. The team announced earlier this week that backup Max Brosmer will start in his place.
These two teams faced off earlier this season at Ford Field, when the Vikings earned a 27-24 victory led by McCarthy’s three touchdowns.
