The Los Angeles Rams signed a hometown kid to a contract on Christmas.

The move came across the NFL transaction wire on Thursday afternoon: Alex Johnson signed by the Rams to the practice squad.

Johnson is a cornerback, and it’s the second time the Rams have signed him this season, with a release in betwee.

He’s a 25-year old who attended Loyola High School in L.A. He played football, basketball and ran track there.

He was planning to play college football at Montana, but his scholarship was pulled after a coaching change, and he ended up walking-on at UCLA instead.

Johnson grew into a pro prospect with great development with the Bruins. That set him up to sign as an undrafted free agent with the New York Giants after the 2024 NFL Draft.

Johnson has also spent time under contract with the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans.

He’s waiting to make his NFL regular season debut.

Johnson does run a 4.44-second 40-yard dash and vertical leap 37 inches. He’s clearly a great athlete.

This will be a chance for Johnson to once again show those in the Rams’ building that he deserves a chance to prove he belongs on an NFL field.
