The defense was weak, anemic, and simply could not get off the field. But hey, at least the offense competed well and gave the Commanders fans something to watch as Washington lost its 12th game of the season, Christmas afternoon, falling to the Dallas Cowboys 30-23 at Northwest Stadium.

Newton only accumulated two sacks in 2024, and he had two coming into today’s game.Jacory Croskey-Merritt had two rushing touchdowns and has now run for a touchdown in three consecutive games.When the Commanders’ defense surrendered KaVontae Turpin’s 86-yard touchdown reception, it was the third-longest completion this season.On his 72-yard touchdown run, Jacory Croskey-Merritt reached 21.62 mph according to Next Gen Stats.The Cowboys’ 87 offensive plays were the third-most in the NFL this season, and 19 more than any other team ran against Washington.Jacory Croskey-Merritt now has eight rushing touchdowns in 2025, the most by a 7th-round draft choice in 30 years.Terry McLaurin led with five receptions, it was good to see TE Ben Sinnott collect three receptions and Deebo Samuel’s 41-yard reception was his longest this season.
