The Athletic has live coverage of Lions vs. Vikings and Broncos vs. Chiefs in the NFL Christmas Day games.

The NFL regular season is winding down, with just two weeks remaining. Five teams in each conference have already clinched playoff berths. The Indianapolis Colts’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night allowed the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars to clinch playoff berths in the AFC. That means there are just four spots up for grabs as 2025 winds down, and six teams remain in contention.

Here are all of the clinching scenarios in play for NFL Week 17.

AFC

Denver Broncos
Denver can clinch the AFC West title with a win over the Kansas City Chiefs and a Chargers loss or tie against the Houston Texans. A Broncos tie and Chargers loss would also give Denver the division crown.

The Broncos can lock up the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs this week with a win and losses by the Chargers, New England Patriots, Bills and Jaguars.

Jacksonville Jaguars
After a crucial win over Denver on Sunday, the Jaguars can clinch the AFC South with a win over the Colts and a Texans loss or tie against the Chargers. A Jacksonville tie and Houston loss also clinches the division title.

New England Patriots
The Patriots can clinch their first AFC East title since 2019 with a win over the New York Jets and a Philadelphia Eagles win or tie against the Bills. A New England tie and a Bills loss also clinches the title.

Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh clinches the AFC North with a win or tie over the Cleveland Browns. A Baltimore Ravens loss or tie to the Green Bay Packers would also give the Steelers their first AFC North title since 2020.

Houston Texans
The Texans clinch a playoff berth with a win or tie against the Chargers. They can also reach the playoffs with a Colts’ loss or tie to the Jaguars. Houston can also secure a spot in the AFC playoffs in a more elaborate third scenario. They can wrap up the strength of victory tiebreaker with the Colts if the following takes place: wins by the Ravens, Bills, Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, as well as losses by the Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins.

NFC

Seattle Seahawks
Seattle can clinch the NFC West as soon as this week, but it would require a win over the Panthers, and losses or ties by the 49ers and Los Angeles Rams. In a highly unlikely situation, the Seahawks can clinch the No. 1 seed with a win, Rams loss or tie, and a 49ers-Bears tie.

Carolina Panthers
The Panthers have a chance to clinch their first NFC South title since their 15-1 season in 2015. They can do so this week with a win over the Seahawks and a Tampa Bay Buccaneers loss or tie to the Dolphins. A Carolina tie and Tampa Bay loss also wraps up the division.

Chicago Bears
Chicago can seal its first NFC North title since 2018 with a win over the 49ers. A Packers loss to the Ravens would also seal the deal for the Bears. Finally, ties by both Green Bay and Chicago would clinch the division.

Green Bay Packers
The Packers clinch a playoff berth with a win or tie against the Ravens. A Detroit Lions loss or tie to the Vikings would also get the job done.

The Lions, Buccaneers, Ravens, and Colts can all be eliminated from playoff contention in Week 17. A Lions loss/tie or Packers win/tie eliminates Detroit. The Bucs are eliminated with a loss and a Panthers win/tie, or a tie and a Panthers win. Baltimore is eliminated with a loss/tie or a Pittsburgh win/tie, while Indianapolis is out of contention with a loss/tie or a Houston win/tie. Or the previously mentioned strength of victory tiebreaker with the Texans.
