When Denver Broncos center Alex Forsyth came into Arrowhead on Thursday, it was likely with a lot of anxiety. First of all, it was Forsyth’s first start of the season, in relief of Luke Wattenberg, who was placed on injured reserve before the game on Thursday. Then there was 2024. In 2024, Forsyth was on the field goal protection unit when he was run over, and the Broncos would-be game-winning field goal was blocked by the Kansas City Chiefs.
This time, it was a lot better, although it came to some final drive magic from quarterback Bo Nix and running back RJ Harvey, who connected for the go-ahead touchdown with just under two minutes to go in the game.
Nix talked about his collegiate teammate, who was one of the best offensive performers of the game, according to PFF. “I am super happy for him,” said Nix after the victory. “I would say no one prepares more in this league than he does. I think he is one of the most in-depth preparers I have ever seen. It is awesome to play behind him. I knew coming into this game and he was not going to leave any stone unturned. He prepares like no other, and he does his best to put the team in the best chance of succeeding.
Forsyth received a game ball for his efforts against the Chiefs. “We all know what happened here last year and how much it hurt him and what it meant to him,” Nix said. “It was a good thing that he got to come back here, start, and play the full game and get our first win here in a long time. He has earned that, and he is well deserving of that game ball.”
With Forsyth’s help, the Broncos won at Arrowhead in December for only the fourth time in team history. This win allowed Denver to sweep the Chiefs for the first time since 2015, and maintain a lead on the AFC West, at least for one more week.
