MIAMI GARDENS — It’s Year 2 for South Florida Sun Sentinel Dolphins columnist Chris Perkins and Dolphins writer David Furones picking prop bets, which they’ll do for all 17 regular-season games.

Before each game, Furones and Perkins will select a “Best Bet” and a “Longshot.” The “Best Bet” selection is a near 50-50 proposition while the “Longshot” is at least +300 or a 3-to-1 probability.

They don’t place dollar amounts on their bets, but you’re welcome to wager as much as you can afford.

Furones is 9-6 on his “Best Bets” while Perk is a woeful 3-12. On the “Longshot,” Furones is 5-10 and Perk has needed back-to-back wins to climb to another woeful 3-12 mark.

Perkins and Furones use the Hard Rock Bet app for odds. Be sure to check the Sun Sentinel predictions for Sunday’s outlook.

Perk’s Best Bet: Darren Waller over 24.5 yards receiving (-115)

QB Quinn Ewers will come to rely on Waller for both his size and ability to get open. We got a small taste of what they could do as a duo last week when Waller had three receptions for 40 yards. I’m expecting another such performance this week, or perhaps a notch better.

Furones’ Best Bet: De’Von Achane under 74.5 rushing yards (-115)

This is a tough Bucs run defense with big nose tackle Vita Vea in the middle. They will key in on stopping the run while rookie Quinn Ewers is in at QB, and Miami could be without center Aaron Brewer — or he will at least be hobbled with a neck ailment. Plus, if the game gets out of hand, like against the Bengals, it could be a combination of Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon late.

Both Perk and Furones just missed Achane hitting the over on rushing yards last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, which seemed like a lock early on when he had the 48-yard touchdown in the first quarter.

Perk’s Longshot:  Darren Waller anytime TD (+300)

I’m riding the Ewers-to-Waller train to glory. I could easily see a red-zone TD from this duo. For these purposes, I’m a bit wary of Achane being productive on both the ground and in the air. But I’m not asking a lot of Waller, so Achane’s success shouldn’t interfere.

Furones’ Longshot: Cade Otton anytime TD (+400)

The Dolphins have had their struggles covering tight ends, including last week when Mike Gesicki caught a touchdown against his former team. At this price, let’s roll the dice on Otton getting into the end zone in similar fashion.

Both Perk and Furones missed their longshots picks again last week. It was a bad day for them and the Dolphins against the Bengals.
