UConn football team preparing for second straight Wasabi Fenway Bowl appearance against Army

  • December 26, 2025

BOSTON, MA. (WFSB) – The UConn football team is in Boston preparing to face Army in Saturday’s Wasabi Fenway Bowl at Fenway Park.

The Huskies earned their bowl game appearance by winning nine of their 12 regular season games. The game serves as their third bowl game in four years.

This is also UConn’s second straight appearance in the Fenway Bowl. They took down North Carolina 27-14 last year.

This season has already been historic for the program, as they posted their first back to back nine win seasons in history.

If the Huskies are victorious, it would also be their first ten win season as a division I program.

UConn fans have already made the trip to Boston for the game. The UConn band hosted a pep rally downtown to help fans get ready for Saturday’s matchup.

The team will go for their 10th win of the season without star quarterback Joe Fagnano, who opted out of the game. Skyler Bell, who is looking to be drafted in next years NFL Draft, will be playing for the Huskies.

The duo of Fagnano and Bell helped UConn average an outstanding 37 points per game.

Fagnano threw for over 3,400 yards and had 31 touchdowns on the season. He also only turned the football over one time.

The Huskies have not named a starting quarterback yet. One option is Nick Evers, who started for UConn before Fagnano stepped in.

The opening kickoff for the game is set for 2:15 p.m.
