A look at what the Cowboys’ draft hauls look like, including an update on their comp picks as the 2025 season nears its conclusion.

There’s just nine days remaining in the 2025 NFL regular season, with things coming to another disappointing conclusion for the Dallas Cowboys. 14 teams will find themselves preparing for a postseason appearance, but Dallas will not be one of those teams. An epic failure on defense has curtailed a potent but imperfect offense and the club will be in the planning stages for next season in early January once again.

Dallas will once again have coaching decisions to make, quickly, as both their defense and special teams staff could see churn at the levels directly underneath head coach Brian Schottenheimer. Schotty hired his ST coordinator Nick Sorensen, but had his DC Matt Eberflus forced on him by the front office, and both gentlemen could be on the way out once the final whistle blows on the team’s Week 18 matchup in New York against the Giants.

From those decisions the team will turn to free agency, and then the jewel of the offseason, the 2026 NFL draft. The planning goes hand in hand, though, as assets in one are used in making decisions in the other. So the haul of what the Cowboys have on hand will be part of deciding which in-house free agents to try and bring back, which younger players could be extended before they are out of contract, and which outsiders could be brought in to help, via free agency or trade.

This past offseason, Dallas brought in WR George Pickens, LB Kenneth Murray, CB Kaiir Elam and QB Joe Milton as trade acquisitions. They shipped Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round picks and DT Kenny Clark. And then in-season traded for LB Logan Wilson and DT Quinnen Williams. Those all used draft resources, indicating how intricately the offseason tasks are woven together.

So what do the Cowboys have to work with? Here’s a look at their current allotment of picks, starting with the 2026 NFL compensatory pick ledger. Based on the 2025 free agent class, 32 comp picks are spread across the league’s 32 teams, unevenly, based on who lost varying value in free agency.

The Cowboys are in line for two fifth-round picks.
