Action is heating up in the 2026 college football transfer portal ahead of its official opening on Jan. 2, with several teams already facing massive roster overhauls this offseason. More than 10 Power Four programs have lost 20 or more players to the portal, including Florida, Colorado, Florida State and Auburn.

The Big 12 and SEC have borne the brunt of transfer portal attrition this offseason. The Big 12 already has five teams with 20 or more departures, while the SEC has four. The ACC has just two programs at that threshold, and the Big Ten has none. One program, in particular, has already seen more than 40 players enter the portal — setting up one of the largest roster turnovers in college football history.
