The 2026 NFL Draft should be full of excitement as there are four teams who currently have multiple first-round picks (Browns, Jets, Cowboys, and Rams). Anything can happen in the draft but when you throw that mixture in the equation, it sets the draft up to be a potential thriller as a team could take many avenues.

As for the Buffalo Bills, they currently only have one first-round pick in 2026 and the last time they had multiple first-round picks was back in 2018 when they drafted Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds. Now one of their own division rivals could be walking into next year’s draft with multiple first round picks, something that they did in 2022 when they drafted Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, and Jermaine Johnson.

The Jets have a huge need at quarterback and with a new regime in Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn, the Jets are going to put their focus on getting a quarterback. Justin Fields is clearly not the answer so now the front office will have to decide which direction to go at quarterback. Well, there is a direction that the Jets could take that doesn’t involve them drafting a new franchise quarterback but instead trading for one.

Proposed 2026 NFL Draft trade has Jets going all-in for QB Lamar Jackson

Tarringo Basile-Vaughan from NFL Mocks recently put together a mock draft that had a blockbuster trade that landed the Jets a proven franchise quarterback in Lamar Jackson for a haul. Basile-Vaughan has the Ravens trading Jackson to the Jets for a haul that includes the No. 4 pick, 2026 2nd-round pick, and a 2027 1st-round pick.

With the Ravens trading up to No. 4, Basile-Vaughan has them taking Dante Moore out of Oregon.

The Bills are very familiar with facing Jackson and it’s already tough to go up against him just in the conference. If they had to face them two times a year, it sure would be a tough matchup for Buffalo. While the Bills have taken down Jackson in the regular season and the playoffs, he seems to always find a way to make the Bills pay the price.

While the thought of the Jets getting Jackson can be scary, it would also throw away a future to really build up the team for the Jets and they would essentially be going all-in for Jackson.

Trading for a quarterback like Jackson does not mean that the Jets would want to focus on development. It would mean that they want to win now, but the truth is, they aren’t ready to win. Not even close.
