The Carolina Panthers have officially solidified the spot of a former first-round pick before tomorrow’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
As announced on Saturday afternoon, the team has signed inside linebacker Isaiah Simmons from their practice squad to the active roster. The sixth-year defender had been elevated from the practice squad in each of Carolina’s last three games.
Simmons, the eighth overall selection from the 2020 NFL draft, has recorded one tackle over his three appearances. 50 of his 51 snaps have come on special teams.
To make room for Simmons, the Panthers placed inside linebacker Trevin Wallace on injured reserve. The second-year starter and 2024 third-round pick underwent season-ending shoulder surgery earlier this week.
Third-year veteran Claudin Cherelus, per head coach Dave Canales, is expected to start in Wallace’s place moving forward. Cherelus has already made a career-high three starts in 2025.
