The Jacksonville Jaguars can no longer clinch the AFC South division title in Week 17. Here’s why.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will have to wait another week to clinch the AFC South title.
The division clinching scenario for the Jaguars in Week 17 included a Jacksonville victory over the Indianapolis Colts, along with a Houston Texans‘ loss to the LA Chargers.
However, the Texans would defeat the Chargers 20 to 16 on Saturday night. Houston is now 11-5 on the season — tied with the Jaguars in the win column for the time being.
The Jaguars will have to win on Sunday over the Colts in order to maintain a one-game lead in the division. But with a loss, Jacksonville and Houston will have the same record going into Week 18.
Along with still pushing for the division title, the Jaguars remain in the mix for the AFC’s top playoff seed as well.
To earn that top playoff spot, there are three things that must happen over the final two weeks of the regular season.
