Manchester United remain ‘absolutely interested’ in signing Brighton & Hove Albion star Carlos Baleba in the winter transfer window.
The Red Devils were impressed with the 21-year-old’s performances last season and tried to secure a deal for him in the summer.

United were priced out of a move after Brighton set a £100 million price-tag.
Ruben Amorim’s side were believed to have cooled their interest in the young midfielder.
But Fabrizio Romano reports the club would be keen to sign Baleba if Brighton consider selling him in January or the summer.
On his YouTube channel, Romano said: “If Brighton decide to open doors to an exit for Baleba, Man United remain absolutely interested in the player. Man United remain in contact with people close to the player.”
United are looking to bolster their midfield after spending most of their budget to strengthen their attack last summer.

Baleba is highly rated for his physicality, ball-carrying ability and composure.
He enjoyed an excellent 2024-25 campaign for Brighton, making six direct goal contributions in 40 appearances across all competitions.
But the Cameroon international’s influence has diminished this season, as the midfielder has averaged only 17 passes per game and won just three duels.
He is also yet to make a goal contribution for the Seagulls this term.
Despite what Romano says, United would likely be reluctant to sign Baleba if Brighton demand a huge fee for him.
However, they could be tempted to make an offer if the South Coast outfit reduce their transfer demands.
