The New York Jets (2-13) are playing their final home game of the season as they host the New England Patriots (12-3) on Sunday.
Another week meant another loss for the Jets, who tied a season-low in points and didn’t score a touchdown in a 29-6 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 16.
It was a nightmare game for Jets’ starting QB Brady Cook, who was sacked a whopping eight times and turned the ball over twice — a interception and fumble — in his second career NFL start.
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn announced the day after the Saints loss that Cook will make his first career home start Sunday at MetLife. It’ll be the test of all tests for the undrafted rookie quarterback out of Missouri as he faces the Patriots, who are one of only three teams (Broncos and Seahawks) with 12 wins heading into Week 17.
In come the Patriots, who with a win and a Bills loss to the Eagles in the late afternoon window, would clinch the team’s first division title since 2019, which notably was future Hall-of-Fame QB Tom Brady’s last season with the organization.
The Patriots rallied from an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit for a 28-24 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night.
