The New Orleans Saints season has completely flipped with the team winning multiple games with Tyler Shough as the starting quarterback. 2025 was a season for looking into a high pick and possible quarterback. Shough’s play has inspired optimism and the Saints front office is looking to place weapons around the rookie quarterback.

Alvin Kamara is in the twilight of his career, Juwan Johnson has flashed when given the opportunity at tight end, Taysom Hill is on the way out as is longtime Saint Cam Jordan. This team could look drastically different next season. The Saints did receive a spark from Devaughn Vele, who was acquired from Denver at wide receiver, but Chris Olave has finally put it all together and blossomed in 2025.

Olave’s issues weren’t talent based, but rather injury related. He’s developed into a clear-cut number one receiver and his rapport with Shough is evident. The former Louisville quarterback is looking for the former Ohio State receiver in the biggest moments and early and often.

CBSSports.com has released their latest mock draft with the Saints sitting at number eight after their late season surge. Josh Edwards of CBS Sports has New Orleans selecting the number one ranked receiver in Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson to pair with Olave.

“Tyler Shough has inspired the Saints to win three consecutive games. They select Jordyn Tyson to pair with Chris Olave. Both players are versatile enough to play on or off the line of scrimmage, which will challenge the opposition’s approach to defending them.”

The ASU receiver finished the season with 61 catches, 711 yards, 11.7 yards per reception, and nine touchdowns. Overall, CBS Sports has Tyson ranked as the fourth highest prospect. Edwards has the Saints taking Tyson after Reuben Bain, Jr is selected by Washington. Bain, Jr would be a glove and hand fit and perfect replacement for the departing Jordan on the defensive line.

According to the mock draft, the next receiver taken after Tyson would be Denzel Boston from Washington by the Baltimore Ravens. The rest of the Saints draft will be interesting with the multiple positions that need to be addressed, but if New Orleans decides for a mostly offensive draft to help Shough, it could be the first step to offensive stability for the future under Kellen Moore.

One way or another, the Saints have to feel good about how this season turned out. The team is fighting hard, winning close games, and playing for each other. A perfect culture to bring a new rookie class into.
