After the Houston Texans defeated the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday, the Denver Broncos clinched their first AFC West title since 2015.
With help from three other teams, Denver can now clinch the AFC’s No. 1 seed on Sunday. If the New England Patriots (12-3), Buffalo Bills (11-4) and Jaguars (11-4) all lose on Sunday, the Broncos would secure homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.
New England, Buffalo and Jacksonville will face the New York Jets (3-12), Philadelphia Eagles (10-5) and Indianapolis Colts (8-7), respectively. Ties for the Bills and Jaguars would also benefit Denver.
All three results going the Broncos’ way is not mathematically likely, but such a scenario is possible.

Denver will now wait for the NFL to announce the date and time for a Week 18 showdown with L.A. The league will schedule two games for Saturday (Jan. 3), plus a Sunday Night Football matchup (Jan. 4) for the final week of the regular season. An announcement for the Broncos-Chargers game should arrive on Sunday evening.
