It’s never too early to start speculating about the 2025 college football season, not just the regular season results. On3’s Ari Wasserman looked deep into the future to project the 12-team field of the College Football Playoff, the results from each round and who would ultimately win the national championship.

Leave it to college football fans to jump all over his predictions and take offense at one aspect of his revelations.

Wasserman went out on a limb, as he has a right to do, and slotted the Clemson Tigers at No. 3 in the CFP. Furthermore, he has the ACC powerhouse advancing to the final before losing to his No. 1 Texas Longhorns.

Fans also came at Wasserman about Texas, Boise State, Alabama, Georgia and Oregon. If there was a prediction, they were coming after him for committing it to print.

“Can we stop overrating Clemson?” asked one fan.

“Clemson has been unbelievably bad with one of the easiest schedules in college football. Klubnik is the most inconsistent QB in the nation,” said another.

“No I will have to see Texas do it with a new QB. Clemson is getting a lot of love for a subpar league,” replied one fan.

“Texas might not even be in the AP Top 25 by the end of the year…” read another reply that some viewed as unhinged.

“Boise State will make the playoffs after losing a generational RB? That literally carried them? We got a long enough offseason to take a deeper dive into teams lol,” commented another.

“Texas winning it all? Bold move, Ari. Bama as an 11 seed is wild enough, but having the Horns run the table? I need to see it to believe it,” read one reply.

“Ari has Alabama losing a primetimer in Death Valley lol. Doesn’t know ball,” said a fan.

“Believing that Kirby Smart is going to lose to Dan Lanning in Sanford Stadium is borderline insanity,” said another.

In a recent way-too-early top 25 college football rankings, ESPN’s Mark Schlabach has the Clemson Tigers at No. 2 overall.

“Clemson’s offense is stacked with a talented quarterback, deep receiver corps and an experienced offensive line coming back,” wrote Schlabach. “The Tigers don’t have a two-player attack at tailback and that remains their biggest concern after spring practice.”

The Longhorns will be relying on quarterback Arch Manning after an early exit in the CFP last season. Given his high-profile name and the fervent fans both for and against Texas, the hot takes on both sides of the aisle about the SEC powerhouse are certainly very bold. For one fan, or any number of fans, to believe they won’t be ranked by season’s end is an outlier stance.
