BROWNS – STEELERS Matchup Preview
The Browns (3-12) showed some fight before falling to the high-powered Buffalo Bills last week.
Myles Garrett, the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year, has 22 sacks and is just one sack away from breaking Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt’s NFL single-season sack record of 22.5.”
Garrett has been a menace against the black and gold, sacking Pittsburgh quarterbacks five times in Cleveland’s last two home games.
Rookie linebacker Carson Schwesinger was selected as a Pro Bowl alternate. He has the fifth-most total tackles in the NFL this season with 147, along with two interceptions and 2.5 sacks. Linebacker Devin Bush has 52 solo tackles and two sacks with two interceptions and one forced fumble.
Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders faces the Steelers for the first time in his NFL career. He has thrown for 1,103 yards with six touchdowns and eight interceptions. Sanders adds one rushing touchdown and 123 rushing yards. The fifth-round quarterback will be making his sixth start this season.
Harold Fannin Jr. is questionable with a groin injury. The rookie tight end has racked up 70 receptions for 701 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 10 yards per reception.
Jerry Jeudy, who is weathering the worst season in his six-year NFL career, has 43 receptions for 531 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 12.3 yards per reception.
The Browns have a slew of players listed as questionable, including rookie running back Dylan Sampson, who will take over after rookie running back Quinshon Judkins’ season-ending injury (fractured fibula) in the loss against the Bills. Sampson has 44 carries for 116 yards.

The Steelers (9-6) can wrap up the AFC North with a win. A loss would set up a winner-take-all Week 18 meeting between Pittsburgh and the Baltimore Ravens for the division title and a final playoff spot.
Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers leads Pittsburgh into this playoff-clinching scenario. He has tallied 2,860 yards with 23 touchdowns and seven interceptions. His 44.3 QBR is ranked 23rd in the NFL.
His top receiving option, DK Metcalf, will miss the game due to a suspension for an altercation with a fan during the game against the Detroit Lions. Metcalf has a team-high 850 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
Running back Kenneth Gainwell is the second-best receiving option with 62 receptions for 410 yards and three touchdowns. He also adds 102 carries for 501 yards and four touchdowns.
Running back Jaylen Warren anchors the backfield with 185 carries for 828 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 4.5 yards per carry.
If Garrett breaks the sack record, he will do it without the passing of the torch on the field. The Steelers will be without Watt, who will miss the game due to a recovery from a lung injury.
Linebacker Payton Wilson has a team-high 118 total tackles, including 70 solo tackles, one interception and two sacks. Cornerback Brandin Echols will miss the game due to a groin injury. He has a team-high two interceptions.
Pittsburgh is 7-2 in games that are broadcasted on CBS this season. Since 2018, the Steelers are 1-5-1 in Cleveland, including three straight losses.
