Tulane is bringing some serious SEC experience to the offensive side of the ball with their latest addition, and Will Hall is handing his offensive line over to someone he has a rich history with.

Cody Kennedy, who has served as offensive line coach at both Mississippi State and Arkansas over the last few seasons, has accepted the offensive line job on Will Hall’s new Tulane staff, sources tell FootballScoop.

The moves mark a return to Tulane for Kennedy, who served as the Green Wave’s offensive line coach back in 2019 while Will Hall was the team’s offensive coordinator. The 2020 season with Kennedy on staff produced a school record for rushing yardage with over 3,100 yards on the ground, while ranking among the top 15 nationally in both rushing yards per game and total rushing yards.

After a season as the run game coordinator at Southern Miss during the 2020 season, Kennedy made his way to the SEC, joining Sam Pittman’s staff where he took over the offensive line. Kennedy had previously served as a graduate assistant for Pittman at Georgia prior to him landing the Arkansas job.

A semifinalist for the prestigious Broyles Award in 2021, Cody’s mentorship helped the Razorbacks flip the script immediately in Pittman’s first season, as Arkansas led the conference and ranked second nationally in rushing yards at nearly 228 yards per game. After having five players eclipse the 500 yard mark for first time at Arkansas since 1975, the offensive line earned a spot among semifinalists for the Joe Moore Award, given annually to the nation’s best offensive line unit.

Cody left the Razorbacks in early December of 2023 and took the offensive line job for Jeff Lebby at Mississippi State. He spent one season in that capacity for the Starkville program.

Kennedy’s rise to the SEC and now Tulane started first with success at the Division II level.

He was part of a staff at West Georgia staff under Will Hall, where he led a unit that led the league in rushing and ranked among the top 20 nationally in Division II in both yards per game and rushing touchdowns in 2014, and was a graduate assistant during a pair of Gulf South Conference titles, a Division II playoff appearance during the 2012-13 seasons. He also spent time at Division II UNC Pembroke, where they saw a four-win improvement during his lone season on staff from the previous year.

Hall was elevated from pass game coordinator to head coach following Jon Sumrall’s departure to become the head coach at Florida.

Kennedy and Hall reunite seeking to keep Tulane as one of the top Group of Six programs in college football, battling year in and year out to earn a spot in the College Football Playoff.
