Florida State is losing quarterback Tommy Castellanos, who is entering the NFL Draft, and Mike Norvell has also lost quarterback Brock Glenn to the transfer portal, increasing the need for a signal-caller.

Castellanos was a relative success for the Seminoles, powering the team to an upset against Alabama last season after coming over from Boston College.

The offense struggled to get going in the second half of the season, but he still had a solid season amid the team’s woes.

He completed 58.3 percent of his throws, and he totaled 2,760 yards with 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also had 557 rushing yards and another nine scores to boot.

Glenn, meanwhile, was a redshirt sophomore who failed to earn the starting nod over three years at the program, having flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Florida State during his recruitment.

Now, he is leaving the program, and the ACC powerhouse will once again go to the transfer portal, as it did with Castellanos and D.J. Uiagalelei before him.

According to Pete Nakos of On3, one of the more well-connected college football insiders, Florida State is among the teams in the mix for UNLV star transfer Anthony Colandrea.

“Sources have told On3 that UNLV transfer quarterback Anthony Colandrea is expected to command significant Power Four interest,” Nakos wrote in a story on ON3.

“While Florida State has started to surface, sources have cautioned that other schools are heavily in the mix. Keep an eye on Tennessee, too.”

Additionally, Old Dominion’s Colton Joseph is another name of note, per the report, as the school weighs its options.

“While social media buzz linked Colandrea to Florida State on Friday, sources have told On3 that another quarterback option for the Seminoles is Old Dominion quarterback Colton Joseph. He’s started 20 career games and has thrown for over 4,251 yards,” the reporter wrote.

Joseph is a two-year starter and will enter his true junior season next year. Colandrea, on the other hand, is entering his senior year after playing two full seasons at Virginia before moving to UNLV this year.

While both quarterbacks offer a ton of promise for next season, Joseph has two more years of eligibility, giving Norvell and his staff more time to work with him. At the same time, Colandrea would only be a one-year deal, which is what Florida State has tended to lean towards in the portal.

Regardless of which direction they go in, Norvell is definitely on the hot seat and needs to deliver in a winning season or risk getting fired as early as next year.
