Keyron Crawford Scouting Report

Keyron Crawford possesses key athletic traits to develop into a starting OLB in a 3-4 NFL defensive scheme.

Draft Grade: Round 5: Scheme-Specific Contributor

Strengths:

Athleticism: Crawford is a good overall athlete, showcasing straight-line speed, lateral agility, and the ability to redirect with fluid movement in space.

Quick First Step: As a pass rusher, Crawford has a quick first step at the snap, which allows him to win around the edge and generate pressure or sacks on the quarterback.

3–4 OLB Frame: Crawford appears to have ideal measurables, size, and athleticism to play outside linebacker in a 3–4 scheme.

Concerns:

Pass-Rush Repertoire: Crawford needs to develop a more in-depth pass-rush plan that includes counter moves and allows him to change rushing lanes to better utilize his athleticism to win as a pass rusher.

Lack of Sack Production: Crawford needs to improve his overall process when rushing the quarterback. At times, he shows an initial move but lacks a wide array of pass-rush hand counters. His instincts as a pass rusher can put him on one track to win and limit his options to get to the quarterback.

Ability to Hold Point of Attack Against the Run: Crawford, at times, struggles to hold the point of attack against bigger offensive linemen. His overall size plays a factor, as he may lack the true mass and strength needed to consistently set the edge for the defense.
