Page High School football head coach Charles Rathbone led the Patriots to the program’s first state championship with a 21-14 win over Sevier County in the Class 5A state title game earlier this month.
For his efforts, Rathbone was named the Tennessee Titans 2025 High School Coach of the Year on Dec. 15 and honored with a ceremony during the Titans’ 34-26 loss to the New Orleans Saints at Nissan Stadium on Sunday.Â
After four consecutive years finishing as the state runner-up, Page broke through this season, prevailing over Sevier County in a rematch of the 2024 state championship game to cap off a perfect 14-0 season.
With the honor, Rathbone received a $3,000 grant from the Titans and the NFL for personal and football program use. The win qualifies him for the Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year Award, which will be announced in January. One recipient from both the AFC and the NFC will be chosen to receive grants of more than $25,000.
“Coach Rathbone represents everything the Don Shula Coach of the Year Award stands for, including character, integrity, leadership and a deep commitment to his players and community,” Titans vice president of cause marketing Josh Corey said in a news release.
“After five straight championship appearances, bringing home the first state title in Page High School history speaks to his resilience and the standard he sets for his program every day.”Â
